Odd Work Project

So my boss is outfitting this truck to look all army-style, and he asked me to make a cool mesh gate for the back of it. Here are the pics of my process; although I don't have a pic of it on his truck yet.

The materials and an example pic of what he wanted

Trying to figure out the widths and lengths proportion-wise

My good friend Mili, without whose help I couldn't have finished the project; I had to sew it in his studio since I needed a wicked-heavy duty sewing machine to get through the layers of green stuff.

Mili has the coolest machine that would automatically cut the thread when you pushed the foot pedal backwards. I miss having an industrial machine to work on :(.

Almost done. Just need to finish the top and bottom edge. We ended up turning over the edge pieces to make a pocket for the rope to go through. Mili and I argued about this for awhile 'cause I thought the pockets were too tight, but my boss managed to work that rope through them.

Finished product

It was pretty fun to actually work on a sewing project for awhile and spend the evening with Mili and his wife Ivana. I even met with a client while my friends ran an errand and fit her for an alteration Mili will do for her! Nothing like hanging with your stitching family.

Soon I will be ready to start surveying people in an audience analysis study for my Master's Project (it has to do with sewing, which is why I associate it with this project). I'll post a link here for anyone interested. I. Must. Get. Going. On. This. Damn. Master's. Project.

Enough said.
