Words, Words, and More Words

I've been writing a great deal lately (I'm in grad. school. This is an overly obvious statement). I write for work, I write for school, I journal, and I write in my mind (only minimally crazy things, but sometimes they should be written down). As a matter of fact I am putting off writing sections of my Master's project as I write these very words (naturally, isn't writing about procrastination?). So, I have been writing much less on this blog. This is not an excuse (ok that statement is really not true, but it sounds good, right?); it is merely a statement of fact.

Fortunately I will not write this entire blog post. I prefer pictures and words together as a journaling/blogging method. And mostly what I want to express today is basically a love letter to Instagram (and possibly one other thing, but we'll see). I love taking photos (much to the chagrin of legallybrunette who just wants us all TO STOP taking photos ALL THE TIME), and I find that the photo filters on Instagram offer such expressive takes on photos. I am even considering this make-your-Instagram-photos-into-a-book thing on Blurb I like it so much. So, below are my offerings with witty captions simply as an appreciation of the places I've been lately.

The shade-maker over lunch at Guru's
The classic, black and white hat zfoxylady brought home one day
The roses I wish we had in our garden but we don't so I had to find and capture some elsewhere
The amazing graffiti art around town wanna'-be-Banksy style
ladylukeskywalker's INCREDIBLE wedding cake created by thebakess aka grannyspoon
My friend, ladylukeskywalker, at her wedding reception and the end of an era

For me pics do capture a thousand words, and words capture mood, essence, detail—as Marshall McLuhan said, in a very visual way. Paired together they are perfect: essence-makers, expression-purveyors, estuaries of emotion (K, that's a little over-the-top but we're just going to go with it).

This is what you've missed out on so far this summer Carmen. Someday you'll recede farther from my thoughts and then your own essence will grow fainter. Actually, truthfully, I won't ever forget you, but it would have been nice to for awhile this summer.
