Friends koala, Y-O, and I went on a delightful scavenger hunt-esque drive today searching for the lawn "gnomes" created by various city residents for the Salt Lake City Art Center project Lawn Gnomes Eat Your Heart Out (I kinda' thought my name for the project, Not-A-Gnome, was a little better...). Quite delightful! I took several pics on that new-fangled app Instagram, which I really prefer to just plain camera pics. We had a great adventure. Here are the pics of the few we made it to though the website says there are 50 total in the valley.
Rings representing artists present and past
Flamingos in the beehive (one of our faves because of the, yup, flamingos)
Kitty condo
Inside the kitty condo, home sweet home
Artist Cordell Taylor
The Salt Lake Underground Guerilla Gardeners (SLUGG) planted boxes with edible and drought resistant plants outside a gallery on Broadway St.
Cello player: Singin' In Spring by Dennis Domingo
The family
Reclaimed reconstruction materials (I don't quite appreciate the realization of the concept, which was the effect of lawn mowers and other yard care materials on the environment)
Vessels enmeshed (and yes, those are tiny gnomes caught inside)
Skateboard inspired
Self portrait and bird bath in one (functional and fine art!)
Denizons from the prehistoric Lake Bonneville
It was a lovely afternoon and quite the treasure hunt!
